Class Descriptions
BEGINNER YOGA: This class is designed for students who have completed the 4 week “Introduction to Yoga” series at the Rec Center but it is open to anyone who is familiar with the very fundamentals of yoga to include the basic and most common poses, breathwork and simple meditation and would like to hone their skills in a supportive and fun, small group environment. This is not ideal if you have NEVER done yoga before (please visit my workshops page and sign up for the INTRO to YOGA series).
YIN YOGA: Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style, where poses are held for a longer period of time (anywhere from one to sometimes 7 or 8 minutes), in a relaxed fashion to affect the connective tissue. The practice is slow and intentional in order to prevent moving too quickly to or past our “edge” which can cause pain and injury. This practice is deeply relaxing, meditative, and rejuvenating while also being challenging and dynamic in a way that is rarely experienced in most other styles of asana (poses) practice. “Most forms of yoga today are dynamic, active practices designed to work only half of our body, the muscular half, the “yang” tissues. Yin Yoga allows us to work the other half, the deeper “yin” tissues of our ligaments, joints, deep fascial networks, and even our bones” -Bernie Clark.
