SUGAR: IF IT TASTES SO GOOD, WHY’S IT SO BAD?
(click HERE to skip to the full article)
I scream for ice scream! No, seriously. I LOVE the stuff. Maybe I can blame it on my mom for always having Baskin Robbins Jamoca Almond Fudge on hand when I was a kid. All I know is if it’s in my freezer, it won’t be there for long. So, I practice restraint and don’t keep it at the house and I save my ice cream eating for special occasions. And chocolate? My next favorite sweet fix, I also try not to keep on hand save for the occasional Green N Blacks Organic dark chocolate bar (okay, and pretzel M’nM’s).
But for some (most) of the nation, sugar is a regular daily item on the menu. And I mean processed sugar. Im not talking about apples and oranges and butternut squash sugar. Im talking about candy, cookies, soda, bread, pasta, crackers, coffee sweetner, lattes, etc etc. Obvious sugar and hidden sugar EVERYWHERE! People are hooked and their health (and OUR healthcare system) is suffering for it.
I know for myself in order to make wise decisions, I need the facts. If I understand the “WHY” of a thing, Im much more likely to make intelligent decisions surrounding that subject. Just saying “sugar is bad” doesn’t work for my sweet tooth. But knowing the havoc it wreaks on my body, I am able to say no to ice cream for breakfast and whip up a fresh fruit smoothie or some organic eggs and start my day out right.
So if you’d like to know “WHY” and the details interest you, here is an article that breaks it down in pretty easy to understand terms. I hope you enjoy this article, pass it along to others and choose wisely when your sweet tooth starts it’s “ice cream scream”!
Namaste.
